Official BSA Uniform for Troop 682
SHIRT
All Scouts wear uniforms to show they are a current member of the BSA. Troop 682 requires the standard khaki tan shirt, and the appropriately designated Troop and council patches for our area, as our uniform. Your shirt can be purchased at our local Yucca Council shop - which is the best resource for all official BSA uniform components and licensed items. Let an employee know you are with 682 and they will help you select the patches and uniform shirt for your Scout.
SHORTS & PANTS
Troop 682 does not require you to purchase the official shorts (or pants) as a part of your uniform. If you choose to buy official BSA pants, please purchase them in the classic olive drab color. If you plan on wearing your own pants, please make sure they are a neutral color, without writing or design on , and that they have standard belt loops.
Uniform Accessories
We do encourage our Scouts to purchase an Official BSA belt. This belt is an olive drab colored cotton web belt with the attached BSA belt buckle. Your Scout will also need an olive drab colored sash for his merit badges. The neckerchief, slide, socks, and hat are not mandatory within our Troop, so please consult the Scoutmaster prior to purchase.
Patches & Badges
The only patches you will need to purchase are the troop and council designated ones, as these are part of the uniform standard. These include the Troop numbers, council shoulder patch, world crest, and shoulder tabs. Any other merit badge, patch, or award, earned by your Scout, will be purchased by Troop 682 with the funds we collect for monthly dues. You are responsible for sewing or attaching the patches to your Scout's uniform. Please visit our link to a guide, for correct placement, if you plan on sewing them yourself.
13th Edition BSA Handbook
This handbook is a necessity for every Scout. It is a chronicle of his accomplishments and a study guide for your Scout. He and the Scoutmaster will use this book to track the work he has learned as he progresses through each rank. The book will have personal notes and signatures from his leaders, so each Scout must have his own book to carry throughout his Scouting career.
Where to Shop
Our local Scout Shop is housed within the same building as the Yucca Council. They will have the items you need, as listed above, as well as a large selection of BSA branded merchandise available for purchase. You may also shop online at the BSA sponsored store if you are comfortable with finding the needed items on your own. The local Scout Shop staff will be able to help outfit your Scout with the correct, required uniform items listed above.
